The UN reported Thursday that it and its humanitarian partners had delivered food and essential supplies to more than 600,000 people in Gaza this month. However, agencies like the World Food Programme (WFP) warn that severe hunger continues to worsen across the territory despite the ongoing relief efforts.
The UN and its partners collected supplies at the Kerem Shalom crossing and distributed a range of essentials including food, fuel, and hygiene items to families across the territory. Around 90 percent of of civilian infrastructure is severely damaged or destroyed due to ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. And about half of families surveyed in Gaza reported that they completely ran out of food at least once in the last month,
The WFP said in a report that the vast majority of households in Gaza have struggled to buy food this month, with some families going an entire day on a single meal. Nearly half of the surveyed families reported that they completely ran out of food at least once in the past month. The WFP attributed the crisis to a combonation of cash shortages and food prices that have risen sharply since fighting intensified in October 2023.
A joint assessment published in July by the Food and Agriculture Organization, UNICEF, and WFP found that roughly two-thirds of Gaza’s population, around 1.4 million people, remains in crisis or worse conditions of acute food insecurity, though that figure has declined from 1.6 million at the close of 2025. The agencies cautioned that the improvement is conditional on continued access and funding, and they warned that renewed hostilities or aid disruptions could undo recent progress quickly.
As airstrikes continue to hit Palestine, millions are displaced and are in need of shelter and necessary household items such as food, energy, fuel, and water.
