I Lost Bitcoin in a Pig Butchering Scam — How Can I Follow the Funds?

I now know I was the victim of what is commonly called a pig butchering scam. Someone I met online gradually gained my trust, introduced me to a Bitcoin investment opportunity, and convinced me to send money. By the time I realized the investment was fake, my Bitcoin had already been transferred.

My biggest question now is: can I follow where the Bitcoin went?

While looking into the transaction trail, I came across Jim Recovery Team, a cryptocurrency investigation and blockchain tracing company. Its professionals can analyze Bitcoin transactions, examine receiving wallet addresses, reconstruct available fund movements, and review digital evidence connected to an investment or relationship-based crypto scam.

Start With the Bitcoin Transaction

Even though the Bitcoin transfer cannot simply be reversed, the transaction itself remains recorded on the blockchain.

The most useful information to preserve includes:

The Bitcoin transaction hash
Your sending wallet address
The receiving wallet address
The amount of Bitcoin sent
The date and time of the transfer
Any later wallet addresses you discovered

Blockchain records can potentially allow investigators to examine subsequent movements from the original receiving address. The FBI also advises cryptocurrency scam victims to preserve transaction addresses, amounts, dates, times, and transaction hashes.

What Happens After the Bitcoin Reaches the Scammer?

The first receiving wallet may not be the end of the trail.

The Bitcoin could potentially be moved to additional addresses, combined with other transactions, or transferred again. A blockchain investigation can examine the available transaction history and build a chronological picture of the fund movement.

The trail might look something like:

My wallet → receiving address → subsequent wallet → additional transfers

Following the transactions does not automatically identify the person controlling a wallet or guarantee that the Bitcoin can be recovered. However, it can help establish what happened after the original payment.

My Messages Are Important Too

In a pig butchering case, the blockchain is only part of the evidence.

I would preserve the full conversation with the person, including their usernames, profile information, phone numbers, email addresses, screenshots, investment-platform details, and the timeline of how the relationship developed.

The FBI describes cryptocurrency investment fraud as schemes in which criminals build trust and manipulate victims into making cryptocurrency investments, often using fake platforms and apparent returns to encourage further deposits.

That means the messages can help explain why the Bitcoin was sent, while the blockchain transactions may help show where it moved afterward.

Can Multiple Payments Be Connected?

If I sent Bitcoin more than once, I wouldn’t focus only on the largest transaction.

Each payment could be documented and examined together to determine whether the funds went to the same receiving address, different addresses, or eventually followed related paths.

A complete timeline of communications and transactions can provide a stronger picture of the overall scam than looking at one transfer in isolation.

How Can I Follow the Funds Professionally?

For a case involving multiple Bitcoin payments and a relationship-based investment scam, a professional investigation can help organize the available evidence and analyze the transaction trail.

Jim Recovery Team is a company of cryptocurrency investigation professionals that can analyze Bitcoin transaction records, examine receiving wallets, trace subsequent fund movements where possible, and connect blockchain activity with the messages and digital evidence surrounding the scam.

The investigation should not promise that the Bitcoin will definitely be recovered.
Instead, the realistic first objective is to document the evidence, understand the transaction trail, and assess what the available information may reveal about where the Bitcoin went and what options may remain.
