The US Department of Justice (DOJ) said Friday that Jessica Johanna Oseguera Gonzalez pleaded guilty to violating the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act by conducting financial dealings with companies identified as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers.

Oseguera Gonzalez is the daughter of Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes, who is also known as “El Mencho,” a prolific cartel leader of Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion. He was also sanctioned by the Office of Foreign Assets Control in April 2015.

Oseguera Gonzalez specifically conducted property transactions with several businesses designated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control as specially designated narcotics traffickers. The businesses were identified for providing “material support to the Mexican drug trafficking organization known as the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion.” She also owned two Mexican companies that were designated as traffickers and served as an “officer, director, or agent of four additional sanctioned businesses.”

Even after the businesses were sanctioned, Oseguera Gonzalez remained in her role with them and “did not seek the required license from [the Office of Foreign Assets Control] to engage in those financial transactions.”

Oseguera Gonzalez was arrested in February 2020 when she attended a Washington, DC, court hearing for her brother, who is also facing drug trafficking related charges.

Oseguera Gonzalez’s maximum potential sentence is 30 years in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 11.
