A Malaysian court on Monday postponed the trial set for Tuesday against former prime minister Najib Razak for money laundering and corruption-related charges, while seven of the charges are brought before the High Court.
The charges were brought against Razak under the Malaysian constitution, Criminal Procedure Code and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act of 2009. In May Razak was defeated in a snap election by Mahathir Mohammad. Since he left office, he has been arrested and charged on multiple occasions for corruption, including the most recent charges, which were added in October. Ultimately, Razak is accused of unlawfully transferring millions of dollars into his bank account. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
