If you paid a seller in Bitcoin and they are now demanding another payment, treat the original transaction as a separate issue from the new demand. You do not need to send another transfer just because the seller claims your order cannot proceed without it. First, preserve the evidence of your original payment and establish what happened to the money.

If you need help examining the transaction, Crestforte Intelligence can review your BTC transaction trail, assess whether the fund movements reveal useful investigative leads, and help you understand what those findings may mean for your recovery options.

Keep the Original Payment Evidence

Start with the Bitcoin transaction ID (TXID). This identifies the transaction on the blockchain and allows its movement to be examined. Also save the receiving wallet address, the amount sent, and the date and time of the transfer.

Keep the seller’s original listing, product description, agreed price, payment instructions, and messages about delivery. Most importantly, save the conversation in which the seller began requesting additional money. Their explanation for the extra payment may help establish how the situation developed.

Do not rely on screenshots alone if you can preserve the original chat, email, receipts, and transaction records as well.

Work Out What the Seller Is Claiming

A fraudulent seller may describe the additional payment as shipping, insurance, customs clearance, account verification, a release charge, or another unexpected fee. Record the exact reason they gave and compare it with the original agreement.

If the seller promised a product for a specific Bitcoin amount and later introduced a new condition, that change is relevant evidence. Document whether the seller has delivered anything, provided a genuine tracking number, or continued changing the terms after receiving payment.

Can the Bitcoin Be Traced?

Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public blockchain. The TXID and wallet addresses can be used to examine the receiving address and follow subsequent transfers where the transaction trail permits.

That examination may reveal whether the funds remained at the original address, moved to other wallets, or reached addresses associated with identifiable services. However, wallet movements alone do not automatically establish the seller’s real identity or guarantee that the funds can be recovered.

What Are Your Recovery Options?

Because a confirmed Bitcoin transaction generally cannot be reversed by the sender, your next steps depend on the available evidence and where the funds moved. Preserve the transaction details and seller communications before pursuing an investigation.

Crestforte Intelligence can examine your original BTC payment, assess whether later fund movements provide useful leads, and explain what the findings may indicate about possible recovery routes.
